![]() ![]() Yes! I posted about this a while ago on here and only got a few people telling me that I was "ReMeMbeRiNG iT WroNg" but I KNOW that the movie used to have the Rufus Wainwright version in that scene, just like you it was the only version of it I had heard and liked - when I saw someone mention this ME on here ages ago I went to Youtube to find that scene and immediately said the song wasn't the same version, and messaged a friend of mine who used to quote Shrek all the time and he insisted it was always the Rufus version in the movie, too. All I know is I SWEAR I have never heard John Cale’s version before a couple years ago-but, of course, that’s how these things go. Maybe it was different in theaters? Maybe it was different in a TV broadcast? Maybe it was different on VHS or DVD? Who knows. I don’t know if we’ll ever come up with a definitive answer on why so many people have experienced this Mandela Effect, at least not until hard evidence is put forth. In other news, Robert Hazard did “Girls Want To Have Fun” first.Įdit 2: I’m glad folks are still talking about this. It’s irrelevant to the conversation, but just so y’all know. The “original” version (Rufus Wainwright): Įdit: I know Leonard Cohen did it first. Weirder is that Rufus Wainwright version is the version ON THE CD! Note: I didn’t own the CD, and until maybe a couple years ago, I had only ever heard the song through the Shrek scene, so I didn’t listen to it online, either! why? Why do I not only remember the scene having that version of the song, but it was in fact the ONLY version of the song I knew? I haven’t quite gone into my DVD collection yet, but it’ll probably be there too. I checked old YouTube clips to double check. I just don’t know what to do with myself. In fact, I’d NEVER heard this version before! So, I sit there anticipating this scene that I knew so well, and then it starts. They’re fine, but they weren’t the version from Shrek I knew. In fact, I had never really heard another version until this past year, when I found out about Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen’s versions. The version of the song that was first introduced to me by Shrek. I was just rewatching Shrek with my wife yesterday when it started to get to the “Hallelujah” scene (the sad montage with the sad song).Īnyway, I expected it to be the Rufus Wainwright version, the version I remember best and enjoy the most. This is my first instance of Mandela Effect. Your first violation will result in your post or comment being removed, with a warning.
